Hi all, I’m seeing duplicates of episodes on my media player. Any idea how to fix this?
For example one episode of Stranger Things is showing by itself and it also shows in the Season 5 folder. Also Season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown is showing as a separate folder and its also showing in the Series folder.
Thanks.
It’s working as intended (by Plex).
How items are displayed in Recently Added is determined by how they were added, temporally. For example, if you add fairly-complete, but ongoing series to Plex (all currently-available seasons and episodes at once), then it will be shown in Recently Added as the show itself (listing the number of seasons).
If you add a new episode a week later, the show will still be shown on its own, but a new entry will be created for the newly-added episode.
The same applies for seasons. If you add all available episodes of an ongoing season to Plex, it will show the season in Recently Added. If down the road you add the next episode of the show in the same season, the season will still be shown in Recently Added, along with the newly-added episode.
This behavior cannot be modified in Plex.
My general suggestion for dealing with this is to just not use Plex’s “Recently Added” sections at all. Instead, create smart collections with the filtering and sorting criteria you desire and publish that to your Home Screen instead.

If you add a group of episodes within 21 hours it will group them so that you do not get i every single episode in that 4 Seasons of Mayor of Kingstown taking over the entire recently added pushing all else to the right.
You added multiple episodes of Season 4 at the same time over 21 hours later so it creates a season using season post.

ahh, makes sense now.
I’ve just gone ahead and removed the recently added for TV Shows, this helps with the OCD lol
