Overview
everything except this works fine.
Issue:
when adding a new TV show, not originally for awhile now
it shows up in the Home Screen in plex (through browser)
However, every entry has a duplicate poster ( no there isn’t different encoded versions)
This duplication only shows in the plex Home Screen and no where else. If I go to the TV Section specifically. There is only 1 poster per TV show as expected. This is also duplicating on the On deck for the Home Screen. The same tv show is showing twice.

how do I show only one poster per newly added show in the Home Screen like the tv section when adding it automatically?
Thanks for the response. So these are multiple episodes from one season. So why would there be to posters of the same season twice? No matter how many episodes. They are all encoded the same as well. The Home Screen shows two posters while the tv section shows only one poster. Literally duplicate.
You probably added the episodes >1 day apart from each other. Hence Plex shows there’s been separate additions. That’s got nothing to do with Plex recognizing them as part of different shows.
The recently released and recently added row have two different display methods. I’m just making sure we’re not mixing them up. You said “Home Screen” but didn’t specify what row
Recently added has the behavior tom is speaking of. If you add one season of shows at the same time they all get lumped together in one poster. Added a day or two apart they are split
I’m surprised you made it this far without some pretty significant failures
Multiple episodes in your recently added may have something to do with toms suggestions but the “on deck” showing multiples sounds like a more serious problem if you 're not storing multiple versions
Your agents are no longer getting fixes and you’re missing some pretty serious security patches
You could check for database damage in your logs, but I think finding a way to upgrade your sever version is inevitable at some point
Hmm actually they were added the same day. I can literally take it out of the watch folder. Add them back and it produces two posters only in the Home Screen. So that doesn’t seem like it.
Is there a way to reset the Home Screen settings? I’ve attempted already doing the pencil icon edit by enabling it manually and switching it back. issue still persists.
I’m not sure what settings you are referring to. Nothing will change how the Recently Added row/ is built. Things were still added when they were added.
Using Fubar in the The “recently added in” interface. It shows two posters of Fubar Season 1. This is duplicated on each show. But the thing is it’s only in the Home Screen. If I got to the tv folder/section. I see no duplicate posters.
Does it do this in every Plex app or just in the web browser?
In the web app in browser go to settings an under General there is a “reset customizations” which only makes you go through Wizard again to select with libraries you want pinned.
Is there any possibility you have two TV libraries pointing at the same folder of Tv shows?
If you go to the manage library settings ( link to how in my post above) does it show “Merge Recently Added” as being enabled?
You can and some folks do for specific reasons. I’m don’t know your reasoning but the home screen rows are for all the libraries that are pinned to the home screen. You can just unpin the library TV2 from the home screen and that will not show up ( can still access from MORE at the bottom) .
Or you can disable “Merge Recently Added” that I mentioned before and it will still be there but it will have separate rows so at at least you will know which library it came from since one row will then say “recently added in TV2”
My reasoning is that I wanted to separate tv shows to 2 groups at the file directory level, to allow for ease of finding certain grouped shows easily. But also have one library with all tv shows from both groups.
I thought plex had the ability to merge same show entries.
“Merge Recently Added” disabling is a useful option but I really like the feature just wished that it knew not to repeat the exact same entry. I do want the content type to be merged.
Everything is working as desired just wished that the home screen had a bit more intelligence to not duplicate in this scenario.
