I keep having this reoccurring issue where On-Deck, Up-Next, & hitting [Play] in the series page don’t put the episodes in the correct order. For example, I have specials that belong as part of a series continuity at the end of a season, where they fit in, while specials that are “fun little extras” in the actual specials folder. I don’t mind manually editing to make this work & I usually resort to episode numbering S01E101 for the movie/special that takes place after the end of season 1. I manually add the air date, title, & description, usually using the information of TheTVDB, just not having it numbered S00E04. This makes it easy to visually look & see what comes next, as opposed to hoping a hidden file in the “Specials” folder will play where it goes & I don’t have to backtrack later.
THE PROBLEM:
I keep running into a problem, even though the file is tagged S02E203 & the air date is after every single episode’s air date from both season 1 & 2 when I click [Play] at the top of the series it wants to start with S02E203, ignoring all of season 1 & 2, & even other manually added episodes. It also sometimes puts those random episodes in the “On Deck” even though none of the series has been watched, I’ve tried marking the whole series as watched & back to unwatched, but it does no good.
I have used Plex but very sparingly for many years, but since “The Sickness” began I use it a lot & have recently purchased a Plex Pass. 1 of the things that has kept me from paying for it has been the lack of customization options, as I don’t want thing in the standard formats when they don’t suit my needs & wants.
