I have an an issue with plex when it comes to playing special episodes (e.g. S00E102) - Plex plays S01E01 instead of the special episodes. The only special episodes that are played correctly are the ones indexed by Tvdb (e.g. S00E1-S00E12 for The Office). All other episodes, despite being indexed correctly, are not playable. I attached a demo below along with the logs.
known issue since server version started on 1.22 (worked fine on 1.21) rumored to be in a fix for 1.23.2 (current just released is 1.23.1)
workarounds is to roll back to 1.21 which is what I am doing. you don’t see this problem if you are playing through the android player but it does play the wrong episode on the ios player.
others say its related to the date for the specials
this bug has been around since end of march and has not been fixed yet
