Episodes with Missing Metadata

I’m often adding episodes of shows to my plex library before the show has been added to TMDB or TVDB. When this happens I add an entry to TMDB/TVDB then add my episode to plex. Since the episode was just entered on TMDB no meta data gets pulled into plex. If I go back a few days later and refresh the metadata everything works as expected.

My issue is I do this for a lot of shows and I forget to go back and refresh the metadata. Is there away to see what episodes have no metadata or run a refresh for just episodes missing metadata. I don’t want to re-pull metadata for the whole library.

I assume you are talking about:

(Scheduled Tasks) Perform periodic metadata refreshes on TV shows too (#13920)

Any info on how this will work. I don’t want/need it to refresh metadata if it already exists.

This:

  • We refresh artists, that was updated in PMS less than a month ago
  • We refresh seasons, if episodes was released less than a week ago
  • We refresh episodes, which are missing summaries or thumbnails and haven’t been refreshed in the last month.
  • We refresh movies released in the past 2 weeks
  • We refresh movies released in the past 3 months that haven’t been refreshed in the past 7 days
  • We refresh Movies released more than 3 months ago that haven’t been refreshed in the past month. (Max 100 at a time)

Thanks for the info! This will be great once it’s out of beta. In the mean time is there anyway to find episodes missing metadata? specifically title.

If the items are actually not matched, you can filter the library to only show those items

For TV shows filter the library to “episodes”

Then to unmatched

You can just select everything in that view “Shift + left click” and use the menu at top “more”
Refresh the metadata for only those items you selected

If the entire show isn’t matched you may not have to filter it by episode. I don’t have any full shows unmatched to test that theory at the moment

100 per Night or in what frequency?

Because if you have some 1000 Movies, once a week would need more than a year and also they would be always not refreshed for a Month.

Just would like to ask, if this Setting is always activated or just if you select " Refresh metadata periodically"?

(In the Support Article is nothing written about refreshing Movies under this setting).
