Neither the scanner nor the metadata recovery can retrieve information about individual episodes from TMDB. The direct link to the series using tm-297397 does not work either. I have the correct episode file names:
Mladá Krev S01E01 - Rána Jistoty.mp4, Mladá Krev S01E02 - Slepá Skvrna.mp4 etc. Please advise. Thanks.
Is this issue specific to this show or is your server failing to find any metadata?
If you want to use a matching hint, make sure to make that {tmdb-297397} (in the file name) or tmdb-297397 (when manually matching/fixing the metadata).
Edit: if Plex isn’t offering any matches, you might want to review your DNS to ensure your server can reach Plex’ metadata backend.
I usually get metadata OK. For this series I only have metadata for the series, but not for the episodes. On TMDB, everything is filled in. When I search, the correct series is offered (found). I load it, and I have the metadata, see above. I don’t get the episode titles, content, or images.
What metadata language do you have configured for this library of yours?
From what I can see, there’s only Czech metadata available – though it looks like descriptions and episode titles in Czech are set and ok on TMDb.
Possibly there’s an issue because the show has no references to other repositories.
I added the links to the show’s IMDb and TheTVDb records (though, there’s even less data on TheTVDb). Edit: if that’s the culprit, changes should usually take 2-4 days to trickle down to Plex’s metadata. Maybe you can try to refresh the show’s metadata later this week.
My native Czech is set. On other servers, the data is incomplete. I also have an account on TMDB for editing data. However, it happens to me that if data is added to TMDB, updating in PLEX does not update this data. Sometimes it helped to delete the collection (film) on the server, empty the library trash and upload everything to PLEX again and perform the assignment. Other times, even that did not work. I first noticed this when initially setting up metadata and the other steps described do not work either.
In order to scrape the metadata from the TMDB you must edit your TV Show and on the Advanced tab, you must set it to use the Episode ordering from The Movie Database (Aired).
As @tom80H already pointed out, scrapping the metadata from the TMDB can take 4 or more days before Plex is able to find it, so you need to have a little patience.
If it’s any consolation, I maintain ‘Project Binky’ on the TMDB and the best I have seen is Plex picking up the metadata changes after 30 hours.
If you want most of your shows to pull the metadata from The TVDB, then you have the correct TV Show Library setting.
However, if you want to pull The Movie Database metadata, then you need to edit the TV Show itself and set it to use Episode ordering from The Movie Database (Aired).
You may need to edit the episode and manually select the poster to use, or perhaps you need to wait until Plex is able to pick up the images etc.
Also note, that the images must be set to the correct language at the TMDB, otherwise they will never show up in Plex if your library/TV Show language is set to something else.
All I had to do was delete the entire series from the library, empty the library trash, upload all the episodes to the library again, and the metadata and previews were back. Thanks so much for your help.
