Error in Live TV & DVR Setup for Colombia

Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to setup the WinTV-dualHD for a while now, but I was never able to find any channels when scanning. I even went to all the trouble of buying another tuner to check if that was the issue (shipping all the way from UK isn’t cheap!)

After a lot of tinkering, I have figured out what the problem might be. It seems that PMS is not set up to scan for channels correctly for Colombia, as there is a difference in the channel bandwidth between the regular DVB-T and the one used here. This can be evidenced in the following phrase regarding the DVB-T decoders that must be used for non-digital TV’s:

“Despite using the same system, European decoders cannot be used as they do not have NTSC or a voltage of 110 or a 6MHz channel (they use 8MHz).”

This and the available channels (w/ respective frequencies) can be found here:
Wiki Colombia TV

I noticed this when I finally found a software that let me manually scan and adjust the channel bandwidth. It found all the channels!

I then tested scanning for channels within Plex, but “fooling” PMS that I was in Taiwan (they also use 6 MHz channels) and it found them all as well. The only issue is the EPG of course won’t match, so I can’t add anything to my server.

How can I manually tel PMS to search in 6 MHz channels or to let me add channels without a EPG?

Just a quick FYI:
Taiwan, Colombia, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago all use 6 MHz channels and it seems the last 3 countries have the same issue in the setup.

Hope we can eventually get this fixed and this helps anyone that’s been looking into this (I’ve been trying on-and-off since Nov 2017).

Thank you!!

Hi everyone,

I’ve found a temporary work-around:

  1. Scan channels using Taiwan as your country and let it go through the whole search. Hopefully all the frequencies you need are covered, for Colombia they were.
  2. After finishing the scan, but before clicking on “Continue”, change the country to Colombia (or Panama or Trinidad and Tobago).
  3. The EPG for the correct country should be available.

Now, the only issue I have is trying to add the channels that don’t have an EPG, which are many in my country.

Hope this helps someone, cheers!
