Error Scanning Directory - Unable to add TV show

New episode was downloaded and then all of a sudden the whole show disappeared from Plex. Checked the logs and this is what I see. The file plays back fine if I play it directly over the network (i.e. directly in Windows), but for whatever reason Plex is unable to scan it.

Server Version#: 1.32.0.6865
Player Version#:

  1. disable ā€œVerboseā€ logging, then stop and restart the server
  2. please show a list of the file names in that Season 03 folder

Will do on Verbose logging.

These are the files in that folder:
Ted.Lasso.S03E01.Smells.Like.Mean.Spirit.WEBDL-2160p.mkv
Ted.Lasso.S03E02.(I.Don’t.Want.to.Go.to).Chelsea.WEBDL-2160p.mkv
Ted.Lasso.S03E03.4-5-1.WEBDL-2160p.mkv
Ted.Lasso.S03E04.Big.Week.WEBDL-2160p.mkv

See if you can rename that one to e.g.
Ted.Lasso.S03E03[4-5-1.WEBDL-2160p].mkv
then try scanning the library again.

Made that change and still getting the same error in the logs.

For whatever it’s worth, this issue didn’t arise until the 4th episode was added.

Here’s what I see in the log:

Apr 05, 2023 11:09:19.190 [39692] WARN - Filesystem error (boost::filesystem::directory_iterator::construct: An internal error occurred [system:1359]: ā€œE:\ServerFolders\TVā€) during scanning: 1359 in ā€œE:\ServerFolders\TVā€

Apr 05, 2023 11:09:19.190 [39692] WARN - Scanning the location E:\ServerFolders\TV did not complete

Then remove it temporarily and try again. Maybe there is something about that file which is tripping up Plex.

I did try removing it from the drive and re-adding it. Same error persists.

Can you post your entire server logs ? often times they provide more detail

Here are the logs
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-04-05_20-06-25.zip (2.2 MB)

Downgraded to the previous version of Plex Media Server and everything is working again. The latest build (1.32) broke something. Not sure if this is related to the fact that I am using Stablebit DrivePool on a Windows Server 2019 machine.

The new release broke something. The same issue is being discussed in this thread:

Hey Otto, getting reports from others with the same error, different media. Am looking into it, but nothing stands out. Starting to suspect the latest beta update.

Yup, the latest update has issues with shared drives. I can’t say the same for those who use local drives, BUT when I did a test by adding a folder to scan that was located in my C: drive, it has zero issues scanning that into my collection, but anything that was on my shared NAS drive which I dubbed letter V: for Videos (obviously lol), Plex couldn’t scan it.

When I rolled back, everything worked again. However I am noticing a few friends missing my friends list and I donno if that’s a Plex bug with his particular Beta, or if it’s something to do with my tinkering with DB backups due to all these issues. I thought it was a database issue at first, till I did enough poking around to realize the new beta broke something.

OH CRAP!! Totally forgot!

Make sure you change the following settings

Settings → General → Server version updates → Change it to ā€œAsk meā€, please do not set it to ā€œAutomatically during scheduled maintenanceā€.

And make sure you change update channel to Public for the meantime.

I had to download Plex Server Version 1.31.3.6868 and downgrade it again as the network bug came back cuz it auto updated on my while I was asleep :frowning:

And despite the growing reports, this update appears to have just been pushed out to retail channels. Yikes. What’s the point of reporting issues on betas again?

I’m also using Windows Server 2019 and StableBit CloudDrive and most of my TV shows disappeared. Fixed by rolling back to a previous version. There’s something in this update that isn’t included in the patch notes.
