ERROR - [Time] Failed to convert '1961-11-25 17:31:25' to epoch

Hi all

Just wanted to share my findings, since it has been kind of hard to find a solution to this problem…

Normally, my logs were filled with spam of the “Failed to convert to epoch” error, which doesn’t seem to be addressed by the plex team anywhere … I’m not accusing, I’m just stating that I was unable to find the solution, until I started looking in the database myself …

Anyway, from the top, since some of the threads I’ve read have hinted stuff, which may or may not have made sense at the time, but had I had a clear instruction, it would probably have led me to this place sooner

Using DB Browser for SQLite found here Release DB Browser for SQLite 3.11.2 · sqlitebrowser/sqlitebrowser · GitHub

Close PMS to make sure the database is not in use and everything is committed to it

“Open Database” in DB Browser and find the file “com.plexapp.plugins.library.db” which usually resides in “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases”

Open “Browse Data” tab and scroll down to the table called “media_items” and find the column “updated_at”. Above the sql data, there is a “filter” field, in which you start by typing the year of the error in your logs:
Failed to convert ‘1961-11-25 17:31:25’ to epoch.

Mine was easy, just had 2 different entries for 1961, which both were represented in the “Plex Media Server.log”. When filtered, find the field to the left called: “hints”. It will say which episode, season and show has the problem. I used a program called “BulkFileChanger” to edit the files’ modified dates. Just browse and add them to the list, mark them and hit “Change Time / Attributes” to set a new modified date.

Close BulkFileChanger and the DB Browser and start your plex, enjoy a log which doesn’t grow every single time a library is updated or whatever else can trigger the “epoch” conversion statement…

In my eyes the best solution, would of course be the plex team to actually giving useful information in the log, as to what the issue is exactly on which items etc… But I understand that this is a minor thing and it probably doesn’t really matter in terms of performance or indexing… It’s just annoying for me, to have errors which doesn’t need to be there …

I hope to have helped one or two in the same situation, thanks for reading!
