Errors in music metadata for last two months

Server Version#: Since about 1.31.1.6716

For the last two months or so, the Plex Music agent has been failing to retrieve correct information fairly regularly.

What it does now is:

  1. Gives only some of the tracks in a single-disc album a “disc” tag, which puts the tracks out of order. In multidiscs, most of the tracks have the correct disc number but some have no disc number.
  2. Doesn’t pick up the track numbers for a few tracks in every album, giving one of them the “0” track number.

So I have to manually edit new adds, making sure all tracks have the disc set to the correct number and editing track numbers for several tracks.

File names clearly show disc (when multi-disc set) and track numbers.
I have “prefer local metadata” switched off.
“Fix Match” and “Refresh Metadata” don’t help.

This is new behavior. Older versions never did this and nothing in the configuration changed in the interim other than that Plex Media Server was updated.

Anyone else seeing this and have a solution?

How large is your music library (count of artists / albums / tracks)?

How large is the file size of the primary Plex database file? https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

About 3,500 artists, 8,600 albums, 131,000 tracks.

I only have this problem with new albums added to the db, not albums already in it.

com.plexamp.plugins.library.db is 444MB.

Could this be related to DB cache size?

I have the default settings for scheduled maintenance of the db.

Any suggestions appreciated.

What makes you think that?
Did you change this on your server?

I did notice while checking settings that DB cache size was set to the default 40MB, which seemed small for a large library.

This cache is not supposed to store the whole DB file. It only stores the last few transactions of one particular client. Which means the total amount of cache will increase if there are several clients active concurrently.
