Every video stops a few seconds before the end on all players

Hey guys!

Im hosting Plex on my iMac with an external hard drive as the library. It works fine and I primarily use Mac and Amazon Fire TV. However, at the end of every video it stops playing a few seconds early, with an error. On mac the loading spinning icon pops up and keeps spinning forever until interrupted, on fire tv an error shows up. Anyone else experiencing this?

I tried to post in Plex Media Server / macOs but it wouldn’t allow me to select it as a category.

Thanks for any help!

What’s the error message? Also, grab your server logs so we can see what’s going on.

I have several log files;

The error message is from Fire TV and is “Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost. Please ensure the server is available and retry.”

I then click cancel and it loads the episode page fine. Local network / macOS / fireTV player

Use the option to download the server logs as a zip file (in the server settings under help), and attach that zip file to your next post.

Here you go!

I’m seeing the same set of errors repeated throughout your logs similar to:
Jun 21, 2017 22:45:15.408 [0x700006e22000] ERROR - Caught exception trying to stream file: /Volumes/MATRIX/Shows/The Legend of Korra/Season 3/The Legend of Korra 3x4.mp4: write: protocol is shutdown

Jun 22, 2017 19:34:20.934 [0x700006ea5000] DEBUG - NotificationStream: Removing because of error

Are you getting this same type of of error on different files or just this season 3 file?

What happens if you setup a “test lib” on an internal drive and try playing back from it? Do you get this same problem?

All of the files get it; maybe some exceptions but I havent noticed.

Will try making a test library on my local drive. I almost assumed this is the issue but how am I supposed to get around that?

I think an update fixed it.
