EX2 Ultra randomly disconnects from Plex Server

Hi everyone,

Hope someone else might have encountered this issue before. I’m running the Plex app on a WD “My Cloud EX2 Ultra”. I have my shared libraries and then access them via TV’s throughout the house via the Plex app. When I first turn on the Plex server in the NAS, all works great for a day or two. Then for no rhyme or reason, when I go into the plex apps on my TV’s it says the “Mycould EX2 ultra” is not available (and consequently can’t access any of my libraries).

If I go log into the NAS on my PC, turn off the Plex app, and then re-start it…. boom.. all of a sudden the Ex2 Ultra and associated media libraries show up under the plex app on all my devices.

This behavior is repeated all the time. Is there some setting in the EX2 Ultra that’s causing it to go into some kind of power saving mode or something? It seems like if nothing is streamed via the Plex app’s for a day or so that’s when this seems to happen. (I’ve never noticed it happen during the middle of streaming content for instance). Seems like we get home after no ones been home all day and try to stream something on the plex app, and suddenly the Ex2 Ultra is not available unless I restart the plex server onboard the NAS.

Can anyone shed some light on what’s causing this? Grateful for any help. Running a Windows OS if that matters.

The next time the server is unavailable, restart Plex, wait three minutes (to fully boot and log the startup sequence), go to settings > troubleshooting and download the log files. Then attach the zip file to the thread.

Perfect!! I will do that!! I was hoping an expert might be able to deduce what was happening from the logs LOL.

Meanwhile I DID FIND A SETTING in my NAS called “drive sleep”. I’ve disabled it. So if the problem doesn’t re-occur, then maybe it was just a power save setting on the EX2 Ultra that was causing it. If it happens again thought I’ll get the logs and upload :slight_smile:
