Excessive buffering

Server Version#:Latest (May 2023).
Player Version#:?

Dashboard/Plex Web/Quality/Automatically adjust quality (Beta)

I ran the recent Harmy ROTJ 3.0 on my LG oled Smart-TV.
In the last 25 minutes of the movie, buffering occurred evry minute or less.
Even after back tracking the movie 50 minutes, the buffering kept occurring.
The Plex Quality setting was the source of the problem.
The Plex-web Quality setting: “Automatically adjust quality (Beta)” was on.
The incessant buffering stopped after unchecking the box.
I have a fixed network. The laptop’s sole purpose is to run Plex server.
The lap[top has a NAS 12TB drive and is connected to the in-house network using LAN and WiFi.
Adhujusting the quality during playback would not be needed, yet, the setting, when on, began, unexpectedly, buffering the video.
The movie is 4K and 48GB in HEVC/mkv format with DTS 5.1 audio.
This should have gone to a feedback site, e.g. github, but since there is none, I place the info here. Good luck.

What’s your network speed? LAN can be 10/100/1000+, can be shared or not etc.
How long is the movie? If it’s a 1h10 movie VS 4h30 movie… required bandwidth will differ.

Make sure you have enough bandwidth between the server and client to provide that movie.

Ookla test program, x64.
373mbps.

I have decided that the PC and other apps probably contribute most to the problem. I noticed Plex has been updating movie metadata in the background. There are several TSRs(teminate-and-stay-resident) in the background as well.
I have moved the Thinkpad T61(Intel Core Duo processor) Plex installation to an Asus x510uar (Intel i5 processor). I also tweak the system and Plex to maximze performance over convenience and appearance.
