Exclude Specific Items from Slide Shows

We all have movies and TV shows that we cannot find decent artwork for. It would be really great to have an option at the individual item level to exclude them from slide shows.

Or find better artwork. But yes, I agree with you.

I would love to find better artwork, but it can be a challenge. The particular issue that lead me to post this is dealing with things like kids holiday specials (i.e. A Charlie Brown Christmas, Santa Claus is Coming to Town). They are movies, not TV shows. There is no acceptable artwork for a lot of them and they make my slide shows look like crap. My workaround is to create TV Shows for Peanuts, Winnie the Pooh and Classic Holiday Specials and then manually set them all up as episodes with artwork, theme songs and descriptions. It is a huge pain in the ass, but it lets me consolidate them with the rest of the cartoons and non-movie children’s programming into a single library that I will exclude from the dashboard. I realize that I could create a second movie library as well as a separate TV library, but that just makes things harder to navigate, these “movies” were made for TV and there are not enough of them for a library to make sense.

@scurtis I get it. I hope for your sake and other people with this issue that they add this option!

There is a trick I forgot to mention. It is possible to add poster art without background art when you manually create TV Shows via Personal Media. When you do this, the background art at the Show level will display anywhere episode level artwork would appear. Because episode poster art is horizontal, you can use background art at much lower resolutions to provide nice poster art at the episode level. This looks great in almost all interface options.
