Because development of WebTools-NG has become stale, and not available for all platforms, requesting adding the capability to export metadata for one or more (selected) libraries. Simple CSV export is fine.
This would be helpful in identifying what titles aren’t being picked up by Plex in very large libraries. I personally have a library with 2,504 titles in PMS, but 2521 files in the directories used. Something is missing, but that is a lot to sift through. I’m sure others have more than me.
I totally understand the need for it baked in the Plex Server however if you haven’t played with the third party app Tautulli, then you’re sorely missing out on many great features it provides. Exporting metadata including cover artwork is something you can get from the export tool. Unfortunately, I feel even if you were to export what Plex has in the library, it’s perhaps a metadata scan that triggered the wrong search for the identification of the movie and therefore you may have misdiagnosed “duplicates” or movies that weren’t correctly identified via year or film title (original film title or foreign title). These aren’t solved unless you did an export of the file name.ext and verify each movie title in Plex matched correctly one by one. Plex can filter out duplicates but even if you trust Plex in showing duplicates, it doesn’t mean it’s verified as a duplicate. Plex is basing this on its own mechanism of labeling it as a duplicate. You still will have to look at the file info and see if it’s truly a duplicate. Plex won’t truly know unless the admin does their best in using the proper file naming scheme for each library category.
There’s already an existing suggestion to integrate the functionality of ExportTools into PMS. Please comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting votes.
Therefore I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
As for the issue at hand: as D_eight6 pointed out… filtering for duplicates and double-checking your collections are your friends (e.g. because the number displayed in Plex is not the number of files but the number of visible items).
