I went through and tagged the moves I've seen as "watched" (using the desktop app and the "w" key was much easier than doing this on the Samsung, iPad or web browser).
Where is this watched status stored, and can it be exported?
I will be rebuilding my box soon. I can save out the data, but I sort of want to rebuild it from metadata stored local (local assets set to a higher priority). But I don't want to lose my watched status.
Hi I guess that the watched data is stored in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server somewhere (replace Username with your username).
Apdata is a hidden folder so you have to change windows settings to show hidden folders or type %appdata% into the explorer bar to bring you to the folder /appdata/roaming.
You could backup that folder before reinstall or
You can use the trakt plugin to backup your watched status online (its free and you can create a private account).
It can also be used to synchronize watched status among a different number of programs (xbmc, mediaportal, mediabrowser, plex etc)
You can use trakt. The plug in sucks on plex but is excellent on xbmc. It works well with media browser 3 also. Never used media portal. The thing about plex is that you have to sync manually while it is auto on other platforms.
Apparently I've encountered a known glitch with no current fix, where if you restore a database, all of your background images will be stretched thumbnails and looks horrible.
In short, if I can back up my watched status for myself and the users I share my media server with, I have no problem blowing everything else away and letting all metadata redownload.
Trakt doesn't seem to work in Plex. I mean, it's down-right awful. But even if it did, it doesn't seem to have any multi-user support, so at best I would be saving my own personal watched status, and no one's that I am sharing my server with.
Your right OttoKerner. Sorry about that. My post was garbage after all anyway when I hit a dead end so I just deleted it. Thanks for pointing out ExportTools, tried using it but never could get it to work.
