Which OS is your Server?
You need to set your drives to not spin down, go to sleep in your Computers Energy settings.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with some external drives. They apply their own internal aggressive power saving policies, no matter what the OS is telling them.
That’s why you should use external drives only for “temporary” jobs, like copying new media to internal drives.
