Server Version#: 4.100.1
Player Version#: 9.21.1.1169
Installed this version today, VLC as an external player no longer works. Message says the location followed by file name. VLC can play the file if I browse to the server via SMB.
That is the web app version not the server. The server version will be the General area that is under your server name on the left side.
I tried to reproduce on my Pixel 7 and it played fine in VLC but want to be sure I am running the same version of server.
Version 1.32.1.6999
It was working fine and stopped working today. I think Player Version#: 9.21.1.1169 was installed today.
Ok I have the same version. What phone do you have? possibly something to do with version of Android.
Pixel 7 Pro, Android 13.
When VLC fails to play the video, it shows a message. The message is truncated but begins with “The location https://192-1-8-7-57.” followed by a really long hex string, is this correct? I would expect the location and name of the file.
yeah. that is the URL for secure connections. the long string is the ID for the security certificate. It is how it apps connects to the server. That should work fine, my server is set to require secure connections.
Yesterday it started working, today it’s broken again. I didn’t make any changes that I am aware of. This is really strange.
That was it. Mine was set to preferred. Changing it to required fixed the problem.
Interesting. I would not think that would matter. Thanks for reporting this
Thanks for helping me get it working.
It stopped working again. This is strange, it works one minute and not the next.
I have changed nothing on any of the machines and nothing on the network or my phone.
This must be some kind of caching that is getting corrupted or something similar.
