External Subtitles not detected when naming Multi-Version Movies

Server Version#: 1.13.5.5291

I’m starting to get more 4K videos, but would like to keep the 1080 versions in my library. I found of course, that Plex has already thought of this situation and supports a naming convention for Multi-Version Movies.

This works great, but then Plex no longer sees my external SRT subtitles. I could get around this my re-muxing my MKV container and adding it directly into the files, but with some 4K files in excess of 75GB, I’d have to rewrite that whole file just to add in about 100kb of text.

Is there a workaround for this or am I missing something about how to name external subtitles in this situation? Thanks for any help!

Of course I answered my own question a few minutes later, but I’ll leave this for anyone else that may be interested.

I was trying to do the following INCORRECT FORMAT -

/Movies
   /Braveheart (1995)
      Braveheart (1995) - 1080p.mkv
      Braveheart (1995) - 4K.mkv
      Braveheart (1995).en.srt

I was assuming that the movies could share the same subtitle file, but it seems to only work if I directly associate to a specific version. A minor annoyance, but certainly a manageable solution.

CORRECT FORMAT

/Movies
   /Braveheart (1995)
      Braveheart (1995) - 1080p.mkv
      Braveheart (1995) - 4K.mkv
      Braveheart (1995) - 4K.en.srt
