I’m running two servers: one for Windows 10 64-bit and one on a Synology NAS. I recently had to re-index and download metadata on my Synology server (which took around 2 weeks). Within the indexing process I cancelled my TV library since the metadata wasn’t downloading properly. Then I re-indexed my TV library. This is what my server looks like on my end:
However, when I go to invite people to my server from my friend’s list, there are now 2 TV shows available for the same server as shown here:
Where is this other TV show library coming from and how can I take it off as an option? I’d preferably not like to reindex my server again since it takes 2 weeks to get all the metadata.
There have been a couple threads on this, and some solved it by removing their server from their account and reclaiming it…when it is caused from migrating servers. Those of us with only one server saw it when we deleted a library and then created it again. Here is the later thread: Duplicate Library When Share with users
In Preferences.xml (or somewhere in the quagmire which is the Windows Registry), are three ID values in UUID format.
When migrating, the procedures specifically focus on maintaining these identifiers.
There is both beneficial and problematic.
If truly one-way migrating, where the original server will be decommissioned, there is no concern (the intent of the documentation)
When the server is cloned, now two machines present themselves to Plex.tv as if the same PMS. This is where it becomes problematic
Signing the server out and changing its Friendly Name (also important for your administration purposes), and then deleting the new instance before reclaiming, generates new UUID strings.
Now you can administer properly and delete the duplicates more easily.
Fixed! I followed these instructions from the thread you posted:
I went to Settings->Servers and removed the server with the duplicates. I then logged back into the server and re-claimed it. Warning: you will have to share the library once again with all of your users.
