Extras displaying in random (non-alphabetical) order

Extras for my movies, while grouped by type, are then displaying in what appears to be random order, instead of being ordered alphabetically by the filename. For example, the “Behind the Scenes” extras for Alien, which include a documentary split into nine parts, display in Plex in this order:

  1. The Beast Within 8-Outward Bound-Visual Effects.mp4
  2. Alien Evolution (2001).mp4
  3. The Beast Within 6-The Eighth Passenger-Creature Design.mp4
  4. The Beast Within 1-Star Beast-Developing the Story.mp4
  5. The Beast Within 5-The Darkest Reaches-Nostromo and Alien Planet.mp4
  6. The Beast Within 7-Future Tense-Editing and Music.mp4
  7. The Beast Within 2-The Visualists-Direction and Design.mp4
  8. The Beast Within 9-A Nightmare Fulfilled-Reaction to the Film.mp4
  9. The Beast Within 4-Fear of the Unknown-Shepperton Studios 1978.mp4
  10. The Beast Within 3-Truckers in Space-Casting.mp4

Obviously, this makes watching such special features a somewhat annoying endeavor.

I did a forum search, and this 2018 answer indicates that they should be in order (and I’m pretty sure they used to be).

However, it looks like at least one other person is experiencing this issue (reported last November). Like that user, I’m also using Plex Media Server on macOS, so I’ve tagged this as server-mac.

Environment info:
Plex Media Server version 1.23.5.4841
macOS Big Sur 11.4 (20F71) on a late 2014 27" iMac.

While this isn’t a show stopping issue, it’s a definite annoyance, and seems like a really weird bug (like, wouldn’t it be easiest to show the extras how the filesystem orders them? isn’t shuffling like this more work somewhere along the line?). I’ll be happy to see this one squashed.

Known issue.
I think it’s on Plex’ roadmap but has a relatively low priority
