Extras "Featurettes" displayed as separate movies

Greetings.

I’ve been working on getting Plex to see my extras. I was having an issue with extras for the movie 300. I’m on Yosemite, running Plex Media Server 0.9.12.19. The issue I encountered is that with the 3 extras I imported placed in a Featurettes subfolder (/Movies/300 (2006)/Featurettes/), they were being imported as distinct movies (complete with appropriate metadata about each extra) and displayed right next to the main title.

I tried renaming them a few times, pored over the instructions for Local Media Assets, and searched the forums for advice. By chance, I tried renaming the subfolder from Featurettes to Scenes. This worked. The extras are now displayed in the movie “pre-play” screen. Is the “featurettes” category not working on OS X?

On a side note, I already had all the extras working under Kodi, but wanted to try to get them into Plex. My solution for using a single directory of movies with extras working in both Kodi and Plex is to create a hardlink to each extra, give it a descriptive name for Plex, and place it in the appropriate Extras_type subfolder.

Little more testing. It seems that the “Trailers” category is also not working properly. I am only able to get trailers to load if the folder is labeled “-Trailers”. Tried the same thing for “-Featurettes”, but that extra category still gets treated as a movie.

I am experiencing the same problem on Linux (Ubuntu Server).

I also tried using the “-featurette” suffix as part of the filename, but those files are still treated as standalone titles rather than extras.

I’m getting the same too - running on a QNAP server. I have temporarily have put all featurettes into the ‘Interviews’ folder which works fine…

For what it’s worth, the “featurettes” category also does no work on Windows 0.9.12.19.1537. I’ll post more information in the appropriate forum.

have you tried any if the 0.9.14.x versions?

I had not. Mostly because the server was showing no updates available. How silly for me to assume it would have self-awareness about available versions.

Having the same issue currently. I’m on Windows 10 running Plex Server Version 1.4.3.3433.

I have a Featurettes folder in the same folder as my movie. All the files under that Featurettes folder are showing up as separate movies.

how exactly are they named/nested? working fine here. which movie is it?

I have the same structure as @BigWheel, but no Extras. One thing I noticed though, you have Trailers turned on and I don’t, so I just turned them on, For All Movies, and also I checked all three options just in case. I’ll check again tomorrow after maintenance. You do have Trailers turned on, right?

Didn’t work for me, BTW.

Having the same problem as @jpborjas . Have a Featurettes folder and none of the contained files are showing up. Running server 1.3.4.3285.

@BigWheel - what’s your agent configuration look like? Is that a possible issue?

I’m having the same issue here. Any resolution?

Same here. Works for some, fails for other films.

I’m having the same problem with Version 1.5.5.3634 on QNAP TS-453a. Any working solution for properly identifying Featurettes?

I was having the same problem - some Featurettes showing up as their own movies. I moved the Featurettes directory elsewhere, somewhere Plex can’t see. Then I moved it back where it belongs in the movie’s directory. This seems to have fixed it for me - they don’t get identified as their own Movies anymore after Plex re-scanned. Maybe Plex saw the items in the Featurettes directory before it saw the main movie file, so it started identifying them as Movies?

This still happens with Version 1.18.3.2156 but a rescan fixed it for me.
