Extreme Buffering when playing contents from other server

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935
Player Version#: 2.58.0

I have this kind of problem, I have my PMS in my personal desktop, windows 10 OS. And every time I am trying to watch content from other shared servers, it gets throttled down to 2Mbps (I have a 35Mbps fiber connection) tried playing the same content in PMP and in the browser, same scenario. But when I try to play it in my phone, throttling is gone. I’ve been scratching my head for days now and I haven’t seen any solution. Anyone can help me about this.

instead using PMP try Plex for Windows, check settings > quality and that Video Quality is sat to Maximum.

Tried that, and still throttled at 2Mbps. It just frustrating cause I can’t use my desktop if I need to watch something from another server.

can you screenshot or take a picture of your server settings? Plex Web > Quality and Settings > Transcoder?

This server is remote to you, correct?

Check the settings in your Plex client for remote connections. Make sure you are not limiting the connection speed. See Plex Web screen capture below.

Edit: Check the Plex client setting for Automatically Adjust Quality. If enabled, disable. The feautre can force a transcode on the server, which may lead to buffering issues (if the server cannot transcode fast enough).

Two other possible reasons, neither of which is under your control.

First, the server owner could be limiting the connection speed for remote users. Have the server owner check their Remote Access settings for Internet Upload Bandwidth and Limit Remote Stream Bitrate. The server owner must have a Plex Pass to access the latter setting.

Second, you could be connecting via Plex Relay. Plex Relay connections are limited to 2 Mbps if the server owner has Plex Pass. They are limited to 1 Mbps if the server owner does not have a Plex Pass.

Look at the shared Plex server in your Plex client. Does it indicate “Direct Connection Unavailable”? See linked doc for example. If so, you’re connecting via Plex Relay.

Alternately, have the server owner check playback status in the Plex Dashboard while you are streaming from the server. Plex Relay connections show as Indirect, not Local or Remote.

To connect directly, instead of Plex Relay, the server owner needs to ensure Remote Access is functioning correctly. See Troubleshooting Remote Access for additional information.

all of the said setting are good on my side, already contacted the server owner and everything is good. Just a reminder that it is only happening on my desktop pc where my own PMS is installed. Any other devices such as laptop and phone didn’t experience this throttling

How do you know the video is being throttled to 2 Mbps?

What is the bandwidth of the video? If possible, look at the Get Info about the movie (not sure if you can see it since you don’t own the server).

What are the settings on the remote server for Internet Upload Bandwidth and Limit Remote Stream Bandwidth? “Good” doesn’t help. Specifics help.

Have the server owner grab a screenshot of the Plex Dashboard -> Now Playing section while you are streaming. It needs to be the expanded view showing video/audio/subtitles and if the media is direct playing / direct streaming / transcoding. Please attach to the thread. You can cut off the movie name and blot out any public IP addresses.
