So YET ANOTHER failed recording, with apparent transcoding errors occurring at roughly the 2:20 mark into the recording. Plex however, thinks the recording went just fine, showing on the schedule below it completed successfully. It did not.
I’m going to zip the recording and attach it…seems to be just shy of 500MB, which may be too big for a post. Still, it should be much bigger for an OTA 1 hour recording…
Please use this information to make a better DVR function…let us know what seems to be happening…
Well, looks like there is roughly a 50MB limit, so I can’t attach the recording of the file. Drat.
Also, I’m going to turn off hyperthreading on my computer. It is probably not a factor in these failed recordings, but this particular processor happens to have a LOT of physical cores (18 total), and hyperthreading doubles the number with virtual cores to 36. We’ll see…
I have hyperthreading running on 1.6.1 with no problems, no recording issues. It frustrates me greatly that I am not able to upgrade to the latest version. The later versions let you do hardware transcoding.
The new 1.8x version hit today. I’ve applied it, and run a simple test of executing a recording of a program already in progress, and it worked very well.
We’ll see how it does with a scheduled recording tonight.
The errata published with the update said they improved the DVR function, so I am hoping for the best!
