I believe I’m having a similar issue where recordings say they’re going to record and never do and I have the same view in the interface. Sometimes I have a 0KB file left behind and other times nothing. I tested going to the same channel and I can watch TV live from it.
Recording time = 10:59:00 in the logs
Version 1.9.7.4460
WinTV-quadHD tuner with OTA antenna
Transcoder quality = Prefer higher speed encoding
Maximum simultaneous video transcode = 6
CONVERT VIDEO WHILE RECORDING = Transcode
@johnm_ColaSC It says it recorded the Price is Right but it’s a 0 KB file. The show started recording at 10:59:00 and is an hour long so it ending at 10:59:11 is definitely not the full show recorded. The logs show some other encoder errors that kill the recording but it then still thinks for whatever reason there was a show recorded.
The ignore folders are used for other stuff, none of my TV shows are in those folders. The Price is Right example is in my normal TV folders indexed by Plex.

I have split your issue out to a different thread because it does not appear to be related to the OP issue. This might be related to the other transcoder issues reported in the forum. One suggestion would be to try turning off the Convert Video While Recording to see if that setting is causing an issue with recordings finishing. I personally keep this setting off and use Post Processing to handle converting the video to a different format.
This issue is intermittent, that evening my system recorded another show without issue and then this morning it successfully recorded The Price is Right. I’ve had various shows have this randomly happen to them since upgrading to 1.9.7 (I had crashing issues with 1.9.6 so I honestly don’t know if this was happening before or not as I’ve just started using the DVR features.)

Thank you.
I’ve disabled transcoding on the tuner level at record time to see if it resolves the issue or not. I liked having it enabled because it just streamlines the entire process and with hardware encoding enabled my system can handle 4 concurrent streams from the WinTV-quadHD.
Is there a way to batch transcode them to formats more compatible to my devices during the night?
Since you are running Windows on solution could be mcebuddy. I run it as part of my Post Processing. But let’s see if that option resolves the Transcoder Error. I also know there is currently a release being tested by Plex Employees and Plex Ninjas that addresses a lot of Transcoder Errors.
In my testing so far that seems to have fixed those issues. I was even able to do 4 concurrent recordings at the same time which I had not successfully been able to do before now as the 2nd show on every tuner would always fail. I’ll look into MCEBuddy to optimize my files for me since Plex doesn’t have an automated in place process.
That’s good that you were able to eliminate the transcoder errors. Mcebuddy has a free version that can be used to monitor a folder for new recordings to process. I would suggest starting with the free version. The last free version is 2.3.13 which can be found here: https://mcebuddy2x.codeplex.com/releases/view/105099. If you decide you like mcebuddy and want to use some of the newer features you can purchase. There is a facebook page that used to offer a discount code.
