I’ve been fine for years now suddenly new media added to my USB disk (2 of them) won’t add to Plex Libraries (2 of them). So multiple drives, multiple libraries.
Unsure if recent MacOS version added some permission changes that now deny access? Unclear how to rectify (looked around but not found the answer yet).
Anyone able to help? Subject is the euro from the Plex Media Scanner Log. It then proceeds to unmapped all folders and files in the inaccessible library.

I’m not actually sure I understand your issue – is this about automatic detection and scans or did you already trigger a manual scan for the respective libraries?
Are the files showing but fail to match or is Plex failing to see/recognize the files in the first place?
The PMS on macOS 11 should require permission to access removable volumes or network volumes. Though… if your PMS doesn’t have those permissions – does that mean you currently cannot access your media through Plex at all or is this only about newly added files?
Completely lost about the meaning of that last paragraph?!
Hello, thanks for reply (and patience) was a late night so I see utter gibberish/shorthand! I’ll read the link provided.
So using Plex fine for years. Now, when adding any media via Finder to my USB drive, Plex auto scans and doesn’t add the media at all (not a metadata issue, simply doesn’t add the media, no placeholder or anything appears in the library).
I seem to be able to play files ok from the server, so appears to be able to read the USB?
Ive tried manual scan and same issue.
Meant to say on the last paragraph, the subject of my post is the error message I see in the PMS Log. Here are the lines I see (latter for each file and folder in the library):

Hmm… to me this error implies there’s some read error/issue with that drive.
I’ve just revoked the permission to access removable drives and network shares for my server. That appears to be creating some different error, e.g.
There’s obviously a chance you’re on a slightly different version of PMS and you’re running macOS 11.2.3 instead of macOS 11.4 – however I don’t think that’s going to be the issue.
Will this issue persist if you eject the drive and re-add it after some time? (ruling out there’s some hiccup with the USB mounting)
Can you access the files on that USB drive otherwise ok?
I had tried to review permissions on Files & Folders before posting and where it lists the apps with access, it was blank and the + - buttons greyed out. I rebooted, etc no joy hence posted here.
Your reply with the link reaffirmed for me that I was doing the right thing but that my OS wasn’t;t enabling me to solve an issue.
I updated to 11.4 and the option for Plex on Files & Folders in Sec & Priv was shown as ticked (enabled). I disabled it and re-enabled it and then manual scan brought the new media into my libraries.
So thank you for your suggestions and support. Why MacOS was behaving like that I don’t know but you highlighting that there was an update pending to take me to 11.4 solved it just about anyhow. Got there in the end!
