I installed a new server on a new linux mint machine after my Raspberry Pi stopped working. I updated my libraries and went through all the normal setup. It’s working fine on my account. But my Plex Home settings won’t allow me to share any libraries with Managed Accounts. They worked perfectly with my old server.

I create a new Managed Account, then it sends an error message: “Failed to create home user.”

The new home user appears in my Home list of accounts, and has a homepage and everything, but no access to my libraries. So, when I edit the user’s access, it errors again with: “There was an unexpected error”

I have logged out locally, signed back in locally, logged out of all authorized devices. I have tried to change these settings remotely and locally.

SOLVED:

Added my linux user to the ‘plex’ group with usermod, rebooted server, all works again.
