False Duplicates on Media Upgrade

I have an automated setup that replaces media files once better versions become available. Has nothing to do with Sonarr/Sickbeard but rather my own PVR and bash moving scripts.

Until recently new files were detected properly (old reference removed, new one added in Plex).
For at least a week Plex leaves behind odd duplicates in my library (TV shows mostly) that have the blue “2 versions available”-icon and in their reference show the exact same filename twice. Shows should be picked up every 15 minutes with old (missing) references being deleted.

Only thing I can do to overcome this is renaming my “Latest PVR of random.mkv” to “Latest PVR of random.mkv.mkv” and back to “Latest PVR of random.mkv” for Plex to pick up this change.

My server is linux-based, if that helps…

Has there been a recent change to how file changes are detected?

As soon as this happens again I’ll save the log and make screenshots. I have “fixed” current issues by the workaround described before…

Wtf, Plex?!

Old thread but I’m seeing this now. And all my searches are bringing up other issues with duplicates  I haven’t noticed a pattern but I have a handful of files listed just like Jonathan’s screenshot. It’s listing the exact same file twice, in the exact same location. If I click the delete icon on either one, it only removes one record (as expected) but it also deletes the file. I’ve emptied trash and optimized the database. If I delete the file, scan the folder, and copy the file back; it comes back with two records. It’s a minor issue but that little 2 in the corner is driving me nuts  Is there a fix?
