Fast Forward takes forever

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2645
Player Version#: 1.8.0.1159-67c4a549

I have several issues, but lets start with this one.
I have a Windows 10 computer dedicated to running Plex Server.
The main 2 devices I stream to are another PC with a 55inch Samsung TV as a monitor and an LG77 OLED. On both devices it takes about 1 minute to skip ahead 30 seconds. This is for both 1080p and 4k movies. On the TV, plex actually times out the connection if I try and fast forward. On the PC client, it will at least wait several minutes for the “fast forward” to occur. The movies are MKV ripped.

I have tried combination of Direct Stream and Direct Play, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I don’t believe it is transcoding.

I don’t see any undo disk utilization when I hit fast forward, however the CPU does go from around 30% while streaming to about 80% while seeking when I try to scroll forward in the timeline. Is there some setting I’m missing to enable fast forward?

I’ve found this too with my PLEX server hosted on a QNAP, and using the PS4 app. FF used to be pretty smooth, but now it lags and sometimes hangs completely and the PS4 app needs to be restarted.

I also having movies that just stop about 2 hours in that I can’t get past that spot. And, I can’t resume movies on the OLED because it just times out trying to get to the current location. I can resume on the PC client, but it takes forever for it to get to that spot.

The files stream fine to VLC or Media Player … including fast forward functions working in real time. Really getting frustrated.
