Currently when you create a smart collection for Shows, if any of the episodes match the filter then all of them will appear when looking at the show from within the Collection. I propose that having it show only the episodes that match the filter would be a better experience. Doing this would probably equate to being able to filter episodes from within a show.
Simply set the display mode to Episodes in stead of TV Shows when creating your smart collection. Depending on what display mode is selected, Plex will create a collection of tv shows, seasons or episodes.
If I do this with my current filters, 100 shows worth of episodes are shown individually which makes it very hard to find what you are looking for.
I am unsure if there is a better way to achieve these results
So… what exactly are you filtering for?
In that image I’m sorting by audio language, the shows in that library have a different languages per episode, just because one episode in a show has English audio doesn’t mean that the next one will. Being able to do filtering based on episodes but grouping the results by show would be the ideal output.
I took the liberty to amend your suggestion title, emphasizing what you want to change.
Not sure this can be done as it’ll break the existing functionality where the display mode determines what is being filtered – though I do see the conflict.
