One thing I’d like to see added to Plex is the file name to the “Play Version” window, particularly when all version are the same resolution. Mbps doesn’t tell me anything useful when they’re all 1080p. The problem is when I have multiple versions of the same movie in the same resolution, usually 1080p, like 4 versions of Blade Runner and 3 of Close Encounters. Without the file name I have no idea which is which.
I also have 150 or so movies that I’ve ripped both the 1080p and 4K versions. If that’s the only versions I have the “Play Version” window tells me enough since it specifies which is 4K and which is 1080p. I’d still like that information but all my 4K files have (2160p) added to the title so it would still apply and I imagine it would be easier to code adding the file name to any multiple version title. I don’t want 4 different movies showing, it’s much cleaner with just one showing and multiple versions.
In addition to BobSnot‘s response… there’s an existing feature suggestion to collapse multiple editions into a single library item — in case this is actually about editions.
There’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option for the Play Version modal to display more information, e.g. the file name. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes. Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
