Hello all, I tried to do a search on something like this but didn't find anything. I did find the info on how to do most things manually, (https://plexapp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201539237-Backing-Up-Plex-Media-Server-Data) but I thought I would share what I hope to see...
In Plex, it would be nice to see an entire section dedicated to backup/restore.
I.E.
Backup - Plex allows you to slect a spot where plex will backup everything to a specific fold of your choice. The backup will include all serer/meta/etc data that is required to start back up 100% (excluding the media files ofc). Maybe an option to create it in a .rar/zip or similar file, but that is not 100% needed just a wish.
Restore - Plex can restore from a compressed file or a designated folder that was made by plex and thus structured as needed.
Restore + - Restore + will have an option to edit media locations BEFORE it activates everything. Why? Well, If I am doing a full system rebuild/upgrade, my hard drives change every time. I may still have all the same data, and in the same file structure, but the drive letters have changed. If I could go in and tell plex the new drive letters and save scanning and rebuilding everything, this would save a large amount of time.
Edit - Edit should have the option above of changing drive letters or destination folders to the same media. This way If someone is only upgrading hard drives or doing some data management they can avoid the time needed to re scan everything and rebuild their library. (I know you can edit the drive letters in the edit section, what i don't know is if it rescans everything and changes stuff so if it does not, ignore this part)
This all comes to mind because as I load tv shows, and I have many, I go in and change almost all the thumbnails for each show and season. And for movies....Well, for someone who is OCD about all the title thumbs being the same height, and being movie posters without small text, etc, that can be a hassle to redo an entire library. I have put many hours in perfecting my library, and I make backs all the time. I am just worried that if I do change anything or want to reprogram my computer, that I will be back to doing all the same changes over again.
thoughts?
