From some searches, I’m aware that this is something that has been discussed over the years, but I’m really disappointed in the solutions that people have come up with. I’ve seen 2 main methods for organizing movie series.

Changing the sort name. This is kinda ok, but not great. When I have my movie list sorted by title, and I have the Prometheus stuck up in the middle of the Alien series in the A’s, that’s awkward.

Collections. Ugh.
Maybe there’s more, but I feel like this is something that should be pretty easy.
What I’d like to see is simply a series field in the general info of a movie. If there’s more than one movie in the same series, then they are grouped together when browsing movies, until they’re opened up, similar to episodes of a TV show.
When browsing my movies, I’d have “Alien Series” right before Arrival, and upon choosing it, it’d go to a view listing the entire series. This feels sooooo much more intuitive than any current method of movie series organization.
