I know it seems redundant, but I’d like to see commercials implemented for TV shows, like the pre-roll video feature for Movies. Basically a way to select a folder to play a random video file to play between episodes. I have an archive of commercials I enjoy, and like to be able to watching with something, rather by themselves. I’m sure it probably won’t happen, but figured I suggest it anyway.

Actually, even though this does not have to be for the purpose of making money from Plex, it does seem that the primary reason to have that ability is to generate revenue.
I am totally against features, like this, that could so easily be used to violate Plex’s TOS. While basically it seems to be innocent the potential for abuse is off the charts and I see no justification that makes the high risk worth the low reward.
If you read the full post, you’ve would have notice I said to be implemented like the pre-roll video feature from the movie section, so no ad revenue. Just like the pre-roll video feature in the movie section, it has to be set to files on one’s computer. Last time I check, you have to grant users to access your server. I also stated that I have a archive of commercials I enjoy, meaning that I have them downloaded, and would like to watch them myself mixed in the my shows. Not to sound rude, but please read a post fully before commenting. If plex offers a way to have a theater experience for movies, why not a broadcast experience for TV shows.
I DID read the full post and I was trying to be somewhat fair in my assessment BUT you seem to not understand that the ability to force pre-roll, or between roll, videos on users gives the ability for companies to pay to have those videos play.
I think that Plex should never allow anything to be forced on users at all.
While you did not ask for the “force” ability it is a small step from what you did ask for to that ability to force them on a user.
If you want to watch commercials then watch them but I believe Plex shold in no way make it easy to interrupt the viewing of content.
