Support for "Commercials"

I have switched over completely to Plex and have stopped paying for cable TV.  Plex is just about the perfect solution for my household.  One thing that I am really missing though, funny as it sounds, are commercials...  I have no clue what the new popular tv shows / movies are.  When I used My Movies a couple years back they had support for playing trailers before movies.   I propose that you add an option to download a trailer or commercial, perhaps even have a way for users to share favorite clips and have a 30 second clip optionally play before each episode.   Points if you can automate the process so that if I am watching something, you can show the preview for the next episode of show X in my On Deck section or show me something new I don't have but is related to shows in my library.

Turn off AdBlocker in your webbrowser and browse the web, you'll see what is currently being forced down our throats.

I think this is a great idea, I would limit it to promotional material for other shows or movies but I do find with using Plex it does make it hard to know what else is out there, I've started using services like trakt to get recommendations but getting promo spots or trailers for movies and tv shows between shows I am watching would be great, and would go along with the idea of creating virtual channels.

You know commercials do not bother me that much, they give me chance to get ready or make a drink. What does annoy me is that they are in between a show/movie. I'd be very content to support some plugins/channels which allow them to provide video commercials before each show like youtube does to help with the costs if they had any or pay $X.XX to not seem them. But this plugin would have to be awesome with no issues.

Early 2021 clean-up: duplicate (covered in the suggestions to allow pre-roll videos for tv-shows, potentially in combination with other pre-roll related suggestions such as playing items from a folder instead of listing all individually, or specifying different pre-roll sources for different libraries)
