Feature Request: Deleting Unused Metadata

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#:

Hi
Looking at my Plex database it now consists of over half a million files, and it occurred to me that many of these I don’t actually need.

For example, typically a Movie appears to have 6-12 posters (some in foreign languages) and maybe 6 backgrounds stored in the database which I’m unlikely to ever use. I’m sure there will also be other examples of redundant data in the database.

Would it perhaps be an advantage if there were a voluntary option to optimise the database by stripping out unused metadata? If the user changed their mind later, the option could then be unchecked and the extra metadata reloaded?

In my case it would probably shrink my database by over 100,000 files which sounds like a good idea to me

Many thanks for your consideration
Robin

I agree with you… I too have many, many files that don’t need to be there.
I was told that this might be a BUG from the last feedback I got. Take a look at this…
