[FEATURE REQUEST] Duplicate a Playlist; Multi Selection of an Artist's Popular Tracks; and More

Hello!

The following requests concern the management of Plex Media Server through browsers:

  1. The ability to duplicate a playlist would be great. It could very useful in times I want to take an existing playlist as a base, modify it, and quickly create a new playlist - while keeping the existing one intact.
  2. When you land on an artist’s page in you’re shown his/her five most popular tracks. There is currently no way to multi-select all of those five tracks and add them to a playlist. Having to go through each track and add it to a playlist is a pain, even if it’s just five. I would love to see that changed.
  3. When you’re about to add something to a playlist, the “Select a Playlist” window that pops is very small, and those who have lots of playlists are often required to lots and lots of scrolls to reach the desired playlist. Making this windows larger would make the process much smoother.
  4. I have some users I share my library with, and I would like to allow them to stream content ONLY when the server is NEARBY (they are on the same LAN as the server). In other words, I’m interested in allowing only local streaming while disabling any remote streaming.

Thanks in advance.

  1. workaround:
enqueue (play) the playlist in Plex Web
then use the ‘Queue’ menu to create a new playlist from the queue

  2. you can add all of an artist’s tracks if you go to an artist’s page and then simply click on the left side on ‘Add to playlist’
You can multi-select several tracks from a list with the usual ‘modifier’ keys: Shift+Click on the first item, then Shift-Click on the last item = all items between are selected too
Non-contiguous lists of items can be ‘multiselected’ with CTRL (Mac: CMD)-Click.

  3. agreed

  4. there is currently no way to do that

You can do #4. Just disable remote access and remove any port forwarding rules.

On #2, I think the OP’s request was not to select all tracks, but just the ‘Popular Tracks’ that are displayed on the Artist detail page. Currently, you can only add them to a playlist one at a time.

Brilliant, didn’t think about that. Thanks.

I’m specifically talking about the list of the artist’s five most popular tracks, and none of those techniques you mentioned work with that list.

I sure hope this will change. That’s why I’m asking for it.

But doing that I will not be able to remotely play my own media from the said server, a feature I find vital.

You are correct.

Ah sorry. I didn’t get that you wanted to keep remote access available for yourself. In this case Ottokerner is correct and this is not possible.

Thanks for the workaround OttoKerner, but I agree with dyadic. While this workaround is adequate but obtuse, it sure would be great to have a “Duplicate” option on the Playlist dropdown options to make it more transparent and easier to find and use.
