[Feature Request] Easy way to add show to On Deck

I often browse my libraries through the web interface just to find shows I would like to watch. When I find one I play a little of it so that it will show in my "On Deck" list on my various devices that I use for playback.

While this works well it would be good if there were an easy way to just place that show "On Deck" without having to play some of it. That would also mean that I would not have to choose "Play from beginning" when I start that show on my devices.

On my Rokus in RARflix there is a "Place on deck" option when browsing shows but I have not found such in the web interface and I think it would be a good thing.

Thanks.

I'm currently just fast forwarding to the 1 Minute and that places it "On Deck"

Cheers Rob.

I use the Rarflix "On Deck" occasionally too, but a couple of friends I share with use it all the time as they browse thru the movie section.  I have the advantage of knowing what movies I have, while they don't. Similarly, I have used the feature while browsing friends' libraries - it gives me a selection of "must watch some time" items.

Excellent suggestion, surprised it hasn't been brought up before.

As a workaround, I have created "Must Watch" playlists from the web interface and added selections to that list.  Maybe not a true "on Deck" list, but works with clients that support playlists.

Yeah, that is what I meant by "I play a little of it" but then when I press "play" on it from "On Deck" it does not simply play but I have to choose "Play from beginning."

While it is just one little extra button press it would be so much simpler if there was a button press to place a show "On Deck" when browsing in the web interface. That would save both the extra button press and the hassle of fast forwarding through a bit of the show.

Plex caters quite well to "Laziness" and this would just enhance the "Laziness" factor and anything that allows me to be lazier is a good thing.

I'm still looking forward to Plex implementing the "mental" interface so I can just think or dream what I want and Plex shows it to me, thereby eliminating the need for expending the extreme effort of pressing a button at all. I want to fully implement a "Garfield" mode in Plex. (That would of course mean that Plex would need to have a "lasagna" function built in as well.

This made my day. also i agree with this feature, would be really helpful.

I don't use the On Deck really, but +1 for Garfield mode, anyway.

This is sort of the same feature I was thinking of. However, I’d go further than this and ask for a setting that let you automatically add all S01E01 of series that you haven’t watched yet into the On Deck section so that if a show appears in your library that On Deck reminds you to watch it.

The new Discover view pretty much does exactly this.

True. But Discover doesn’t appear on the main page in the XBox One app. You have to go into the TV Library to see it. It would be nice to be able to look in only one place to see all of the shows that are “next to watch”, including the first episode of new series. An alternative would be moving the Discover area to the front page. Though, it would be easier not to move back and forth.

Also, as far as I can tell the Discover section doesn’t appear in the web interface at all.

Would luv to have an option like this!

Maybe this feature request can be combined with a favorite series option. That when enabled for a serie it always will be always “on deck”.
