Since the feature ‘Skip intro’ has been introduced to series, I would like to propose the following.
in properties for an episode, add a tab named ‘Intro/Recap’ or something more accurate.
In this tab you can put four time fields.
2 for recap:
Start of recap: mm:ss (default: 00:00)
End of recap: mm:ss (default: 00:00)
2 for intro:
Start of intro: mm:ss (default: 00:00)
End of intro: mm:ss (default: 00:00)
Maybe they need checkboxes to be activated?
Also if any of these exist from online sources they can be pre-filled into the slots.
I realize that the times is just an approximation as the jumps in video files require keyframes to start from. I can be super wrong here and probably am. But if that is the case, that you can only jump to keyframes the plex server can figure out the closest keyframe before the time set by user and update the input field.
Then, when you play the episode you get a button to opt to skip the recap or intro.
Looks like somebody had already suggested such a feature.
The only difference I can see is that they’re considering alternative ways to set those timestamps, while yours adds the option to edit this via the user interface.
Please search before posting duplicate posts to avoid distracting votes from each other.
If you want we can move your post into that other suggestion to add the angle of doing this through the UI. Otherwise I’ll close the post so you and others can vote in the existing suggestion.
No… I only referred to there being a similar feature suggestion (not just some linked post) and that’s what we’re trying to limit in order to prevent users splitting their votes across similar suggestions as this can easily result in both requests not getting sufficient visibility.
As you added your point to the sibling request/suggestion I’ll close this one.
