I would like to see a feature added to the DVR scheduler for recording shows within a time range. Today I can go to “Limit to Airing Time” and choose to record it Anytime, or a very specific time that is listed in the guide for that show.
I would like to see a feature that would allow a show to be recorded within a larger time range, say Prime Time. This would allow for network schedule changes and avoid recording those old episodes that are running at 3 in the morning.
Optimally, I would like to create my own time ranges. If implemented it would probably be easiest if the start time/end time values were set for each show, but it would be nice if there was an interface were we could define our own custom named time ranges to pick from the drop down.
Well, I’m a new user, so I don’t have any history to prevent that from happening. Also, when I do have history built up, will it still not re-record an episode if it has been deleted (with most TV shows I have no reason to keep them after viewing them). Or, if I don’t keep it on disk, will it still re-record that episode?
A “new” episode indicates a show that is the first time aired, not that it would be new to your library. As can be seen in the image below The Orville Season 2 Episode 1 will be a “New” airing on 12/30. If Season 2 Episode 1 is aired again after 12/30 it would not be identified in the Guide Data as “New” for any subsequent airings. Unless something is wrong with the guide data.
Sadly, for the items I want to record, I cannot use New Airings Only. I tend to watch and record PBS programs and the guide data does not have those program marked as New, even if they have never been shown in the US before. But, because they have aired in the UK or Canada at a prior date, they are “reruns”.
Also, oddly, news programs like “BBC World News America” (also on PBS), which doesn’t show reruns at all, are also marked as reruns in the guide data.
