Feature Request - Media info on Poster (e.g. video resolution banner)

When browsing the movies in the PHT client OR the Plex/Web interface, seeing the media quality and audio types would be nice.

I have quite a few movies that are 480P rips from my DVDs and take up approximately 1.2GB-1.5GB in space. I've seen better looking 720P rips from Blu-Ray now that can take up less space than that, so I'd like to be able to see the media attributes on the poster when browsing my library on either client so I can make a note to get a better copy.

If there is an impact to screen refresh/redraw on lesser systems, give this as an option to toggle on or off maybe.

Basic idea is to overlay the resolution just like the Watched status...at minimum.

Change the spacing a bit on the grid and place the Resolution and Audio specs just above the poster and you have a much more complete idea.

I made a quick mockup showing both possibilities...

Thanks

It would be nice to have the ability to see what Resolution the movies in the library have right on the Posterview.
At the moment the only way to see what resolution a movie has is if you go into the details.

Therefore a Triangle Flag (like unseen movies have) would be a nice feature. Perhaps at the same spot as the unseen movie (top right corner) but with the addition for the movies resolution and the have the flags color coded (seen / unseen).

Is there a way to do this without the Plex developers? As in, is there a line of code somewhere that can be added? Or even a third-party way. Just wondering, because I’d really like to see this as well. Perhaps it would work even if it’s like a little bar along the bottom of the poster saying the resolution or something.

You can already sort by resolution, and I think that stamping every poster would look horrid; if you have loads of 1080p movies, there simply would be no point. Perhaps just best to stamp the 4K movies, I think.

I think this would be a great feature to add. Easy to code. Turn it off by default. I’ve had several friends mention that they wish they knew when/if a movie I had was 4k without having to click into the movie itself and without having to navigate the filter or sort menu. A simple option to add a resolution flag to the poster would allow resolution snobs, of whom there are many, to scroll and watch with ease.

Hello,

I would love an option to view format (SD, HD, 4k etc) from the movie poster view. I am using Android TV and the plex app.

The format is viewable once you open a title, but you can’t tell from the poster what format it’s in.

It could be just text to the far right of the release year or an overlay on the poster itself…

Thanks!
Andrew

Something like this is what I am asking for. So we can see the format of a film, at a glance, while viewing titles in alphabetical order…

Mod-Edit: Merged some of those older suggestions as part of a suggestion clean-up. Opted to merge instead of close the later threads as there were some more specific mockups / aspects.

Edit: while cleaning up further, I found yet another thread that has actually collected a number of votes. Therefore closing this one and pointing everybody who’s interested in this feature to comment/vote in that thread instead. my apologies for the back-and-forth.
