[Feature Request] Media Requests / Media Issue Reporting

Plex Server Admins need better admin tools around users requesting new content and reporting issues on existing content on the server.

I was looking over the Activity Feed feature that was rolled out in Dec and saw that someone said it solves the reporting issues function. Absolutely not. It’s too buried for non-tech savvy users to find and if it takes more than 2 clicks - no on is going to use it due to general end user laziness.

There needs to be over all Dashboard that shows all reported issues and requests in a single spot. End users should be able to report an issue right on the very screen they’re about to press the play button on. No hunting around around for the function.

How about them sending you an email? How many users do you have?

Emails get lost in a busy inbox and that defeats the point I’m making. The existing dashboard in Plex really could use some expanded functionality - so having details like media requests / reported issues makes sense.

Regardless of the number of users I have - I get emails, text messages, verbal communications on issues and requests - I can’t remember and keep track of everything.

Given the platform maturity of Plex, this should have been built in by now as making requests and reporting issues are pretty much a core function of admin / end user engagement.

The point I was getting to is that PLEX is doing all it can to present itself to the public as a legitimate and legal streaming service and not just a pirate’s best friend. I doubt they are going to spend much effort on maing it easier for people to share content when that is the most legally grey area they have going.

Have a look at Overseerr

Overseerr and Ombi are great solutions for the tech savvy.

The problem with both of those is that it you have to go to a different URL/Site to utilize the functionality.

Issue reporting has nothing to do with legalities and is a core function of systems administration. If user is experiencing an issue with something provided, an issue report is raised to the systems admin. Plex needs the same functionality baked into the native app.

Users should be able to click a button to report an issue on the same screen that they’re clicking on the play button for ease of reference.

As for requesting content - I can see the legal debate around that topic, but with some crafting UI work and wording, you can work around that.

The menu item “Report Issue” exists in the context menu of every media item.
I don’t think that a dedicated button just for reporting issues is justified.

The fact myself, nor any of my users have seen or used this function is telling of the current implementation.

As an admin - where would I find the “Reported Issues” section on the Plex Media Server Dashboard so I can be aware and address those issues for my end users?

Seriously look at your UI design and think would be a better end user experience vs having something buried in an obscure context menu.
