Movie is on server and working %100 great. For some reason, the Movie needs to be relocated. Such as maybe it has become a classic or you just want to make it available for certain users.
My suggestion is for some sort of management where you can click on the options and “Move Item” to a different library without losing any play stats etc.
Th current process is move in the file system and rescan with Plex. However, this loses all history of the item and flags it as just added again.
You can already move media without losing your watch history.
The related support article describes how you can do that for entire libraries (library sections) – the same will work if you move a single file / movie folder.
There’s an actual feature suggestion asking to support this via the user interface of Plex (as per your post)
I figured there would already be a topic but wasnt able to source it when I posted.
It would make SO much more sense to have this feature built into Plex. I don’t believe any competition has this feature built in at this time. I did look at the How To and the Support article but, honestly, it is a PITA to have to do that in order to keep metadata. In my case, I said the heck with it and just removed, scanned, relocated and rescanned. Way way less work. It would just be a cool feature if it could be built in to relocate the media and move it within Plex to correct library.
