[Feature Request] PlexAmp: Ability to Select Playlists in Carplay

It would be supremely helpful if there was an ability to select Playlists from within the CarPlay version of the app. It’d be far more helpful to people with large libraries than the “Album” selection button, and I don’t understand why it isn’t something that is already included when you tap the library button. I understand from PlexDev complaints that CarPlay is hard to work with and program for, but you have to throw those of us with 2TB+ of music a lifeline here if you want us to use your app to listen to music in the car.

Currently, to use playlists, you have to:

  • tell your phone you’re not driving
  • find the app
  • get into the app
  • scroll through the interface until you find playlists
  • find the specific playlist you want
  • tap it and it starts playing

This 6 step process is really becoming untenable, especially when driving, as it necessitates the usage of your phone instead of the CarPlay interface that is built in and legal to use.

And it’s not like either of these things are new technologies— CarPlay came out in 2014, so it’s almost a decade old, and PlexAmp is slightly younger at 7 years old. I’d think that by this point you probably should add a “Playlist” button to the Application. Kind of boggles the mind really.

So here’s hoping you add this very simple library navigation aide to your PlexAmp app at some point in the near future…

…Hopefully sometime before PlexAmp and Carplay become teenagers.

Collections will also be nice

I would also like more options in the menus. I can browse by artist but I’d prefer by album.

2 years later and the PlexAmp CarPlay app is still a nightmare to use. You’d think they’d do SOME development in the past 24 months, but I guess they can’t be bothered.

Almost full circle on another year of Plex not touching their CarPlay integration because it’s “Too difficult”.
