Plexamp Feature Request -- More Music By Current Artist

I’m using Plexamp from CarPlay, I don’t think there is a convenient way to jump to more music by the currently played artist. Can you please consider adding this feature. For example, when listening to a Bob Dylan album I’d like to easily see what else I have available by Bob Dylan and jump directly to that list of available albums.

Shuffle on the current artist is another related feature which would be awesome on CarPlay – if these features do in fact exist, please let me know how to find them.

Isn’t “Autoplay” close enough to what you want?

Sorry Otto, I’m not sure what that is — I’m trying to find it now on the iOS app

Plex Amp has an auto play function. Go to Settings->Playback->Autoplay->Album Direction. This will give you two options. Hopefully this helps. :+1:t5:

Thanks — but no that’s not what I’m referring to , I’m talking about the “Go To Artist” feature in Plex

In Spotify it’s called “View Artist”

I can’t find it in Plexamp

I want to quickly browse music by the current artist not automatically play the next record by the same artist (I might have say 30 Dylan records or perhaps 10 records by The National etc, the odds that I want to just play the first song the artists next record is very small)

I’m surprised this isn’t any obvious feature.

I wasn’t trying to be complicated here, I honestly thought it must do that already since Plex itself does it nicely.

It would be especially handy in the car to avoid additional browsing just to locate the same artist the user is currently jamming to

You tap/click on the artist/album/song part of the play screen and then select “Go to artist”.

Thanks – that’s exactly the feature I’m looking for, however, it’s not available in the CarPlay version.

How do I make a request for that feature in the CarPlay version of Plexamp? I guess I will try Twitter as well to reach the Plexamp team

Otto, thanks for the link, I did very much like the information, however, this particular feature of “go to artist” is not available in the CarPlay version of Plexamp (or at least I can’t find it yet, no problem finding it on the iOS version per @Jason_D 's suggestion)

So how can I bump this up to a feature request on the CarPlay version of Plexamp? Maybe there is another place I can reach the Plexamp team to request this feature. I will try Twitter as well.

That may be unlikely to happen in CarPlay. The options that are available for developers to use (and that are approved by Apple) are very limited.

i believe it will be possible to add once we upgrade the CarPlay API. Apple changed it all around as of iOS 14.

Here’s an idea that I think would work well under the current API, could Plexamp use a similar approach that it uses for “Recently Played” which does appear in CarPlay, maybe “Albums By Current Artist” could appear in that section? So the implementation would not need to be exactly the same as it is in the iOS version in terms of clicking on the artist text on the currently playing screen.

This idea would be plenty awesome and would avoid the whole scrolling back through the list to find the same artist again.

That is a creative idea, but we’d rather just get the new CarPlay screen working as it also supports viewing the play queue.
