Not sure if this has been brought up before but I have wished on several occasions for the ability to send or post a link to a movie, music or show to play from my PMS. I would like to be able to control the expiration/duration of this link as well as to be able to view stats on how much it's been used. It could even be password protected but I would like it to be independent of Plex authentication....a person I send it to wouldn't have to be a Plex User. Of course, I would also like to be able to revoke the link if things get out of hand too.
Has this feature been requested before? Would this be useful to anyone else?
I would love to see this. I have movies and songs I've worked on that I'd love to share through Plex with friends I send the special link to, but I don't want them to access my entire library (that would be a copyright nightmare!)
I know this thread is old, but I had the idea of sharing a song with someone today, and thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool if I could share a song from my library, and it would stream from my server, but the other person didn’t have to have a Plex account?” Hopefully they could implement this at some point…
