Hi!
I am using Plexamp with a lot of joy! It is an incredible app, however i would like to request the visibility of the album genres rather than having them only at the artist level.
Adding like 20-30 new albums and using the mobile app on the go, it would be lovely to see the genre quickly by jumping in the ‘recently added’ album. Plex Server should know the genre so i guess this would be an ‘easy’ implementation ?

We use the second line to show the most important thing depending on sort. Since “recently added” sorts by date added, that’s what we show. Showing genre would sort of defeat that purpose 
I am sorry if you misunderstood and my explanation was bad on this
I am really speaking of the actual album view, my last added was just as explanation.
So i mean if one opens an album, i would love to have the genre in there just like as on the plex server…
Hmm, isn’t it there if you scroll down to the bottom of the page? Styles is the finer granularity of genre.
No the plexamp is already fullscreen screenshot of the app.. there is nothing more to see.. thus my request of adding it to the album view.
on the bottom it mostly says the record label - year and format. not the genre
for VA this is really a bit a ‘problem’. I know not every release has a genre set, but for those where there is one it would be nice to see it..
Hmm, not a lot of metadata there. This is what I’m referring to in the image below.
What are you using for agent/scanner, anything special or default? Can you check to see if other albums show styles?
yes i indeed see it for other albums, but not for every album. i guess only if the plex agent is able to find the album ? But not every release is found by the scanner and therefore local metatags are used.
Scanner + Agent: Plex Music
Genres: Plex Music
Checkbox on : using local metadata (preferred if available)
and all settings checked, except the ‘save play duration’…
So my guess is if there is a ID3/4 Tag in the file, the plex server ui displays it but not plexamp, where when the plex scanner is able to find the album also plexamp shows all information ?
PS: i can also use the ‘Album Genres’ within plexamp and browse to an album within this genre, but within the album the genre is not visible.
The Album above ‘Gear 2’ is for sure not assigned by Plex Scanner, the scanner does not find it.
