[Feature Request] Specify Tuner for Plex DVR Use

I’d like the ability to be able to enable/disable specific tuners for use with Plex. Currently I’m dipping my toes in the water of Plex DVR and for WAF (Wife Approval Factor) I need to keep our current Windows Media Center solution active if not just for Live TV support. I’m using an HDHomeRun Prime with 3 tuners and my preference would be to dedicate two tuners to WMC and one to Plex. I’m able to choose specific tuners in the WMC tuner setup but without the ability to do the same in Plex, I know I’m going to run into tuner conflicts. After som thought, I plan to dedicate the second two tuners to WMC in hopes that this will cause less chance of conflict.

Eventually I hope to migrate all our TV/Movie consumption to Plex as I’m thrilled with the overall feature set but during this migration period, having a bit more control over the tuners would be VERY useful. I think it could also be useful for other users who may wish to dedicate specific tuners to recording and leave other tuners available for live TV in homes with multiple family members using multiple tuners.

Currently Plex does not allow specific tuners to be specified. When a device is added all tuners are considered available to Plex. I have seen others post about wanting this same feature so perhaps in the future it will be added.

Right on, I dug around a bit and couldn’t find any relevant info on this so hopefully the Feature Request helps…

Nice idea!

I’m still using WMC and HDHR Prime and Connect as well. Tuner conflict is why i don’t schedule any Comcast recordings in Plex. I bit the bullet and added the HDHR OTA Quattro tuner to my Plex NAS server because i really wanted to start comparing the 2 DVR functions. Plex has some great benefits, but WMC is solid… Especially with EPG123.

I’ve come close to buying an additional Prime unit… But have resisted.

I do wish we could get Plex to easily recognize WMC recordings/naming convention natively.
