Probably cause they are worried it would then show up on the radar of all the anti pirating groups. As it “could” be used and viewed that way… 
+1 for this feature. The think is to answer FI0aterr it would not be classified as pirating as we are coping the files with in our owned account and resources. Much the same way as we do now with our ftp servers. I am sure there is some way we could integrate this function in plex. One such technology is https://webtorrent.io/ however that may be to public of a method.
Another feature I would like is for the application to create a managed folder option for how the videos are stored so that the videos can be stored by genre, then by year. I really hate manually having to manage the folder structure as I do not like a large mess of files in a folder without meaning.

Just built a new plex server and was googling if it could be done. (found this thread)
+1 willing to do this between my servers, one is at home, the second at work a sychro feature will be awesome.
Its been 4 years and nothing from plex… I don’t think the listen to what the customer wants.
Would really like to be able to do this so I could copy files from a remote server to my server without FTP.
