No, you cannot add trailers to TV shows. I like the idea of “coming next week” but not all videos on YouTube are legal, so unless there is a service like Vivo that can provide that legitimately, probably not going to see that happen.
TV Series Trailers/interviews - Hint: The only way I have found to handle keeping series interviews, making of, etc, is to put them in the ‘specials’. Basically put in ‘Season 0’ folder, or I just put them in “series-name.S00E01.title-of-item.m4v” and I put each as a separate ‘episode’ in season zero. … Hope this helps someone else, since the -interview and -trailer tags only work on movies.
@servant74 I’m not looking for a way to do this manually as much as I’m looking for a feature to have it be pulled automatically. Plus, this feature is specifically for TV Series Trailers to give someone a visual idea about the show they may be interested in and “Next Week On” previews so the you or a friend can see next weeks preview.
@MovieFan.Plex I attempted to check out IVA but it’s obviously not a site for the public. I guess they do not carry these types of trailers for TV Series and individual shows?
IVA is a commercial site and you can’t browse around their database. Extras for TV shows is a feature request and been discussed before. Finding trailers for TV shows is probably possible, I’m sure there is someone gathering this. This new idea of “Coming up next week” is the wrinkle. To have this available for each episode would require a lot of active work by that source to make sure it is obtained in time. I just have not seen or heard of any place gathering this.
Edit - Don’t get me wrong. I like the idea, just not sure how realistic it is to make this possible,
I don’t need you to worry about a “legal source” for these videos. I just need a filename convention that will let me add those manually and have Plex make sense of them.
It would be nice if, for instance, season 1 trailers of unwatched shows were played before episodes, or for people who have watched later seasons that the coming season trailers would play. They wouldn’t necessarily have to match the tv show currently playing (probably shouldn’t).
You can rest assured that I am pulling these off the bluray extras that I have legally purchased, and I’m only ripping them to exercise my legal rights of fair use.
